As a fellow peony lover, I adore so much about this post, especially the part about you doing things for yourself.

Thanks, Gabriella. It's been one of the best lessons to come out of this journey.

I've been looking at getting a tattoo since coming out. While I have found cool and pretty artwork to adorn myself, I haven't pulled the trigger. I want the artwork to be as amazing as the story behind it. Real personal meaning for me. Your column renews my search... which I will dig below the surface to find the one that resonates only for me. Thanks for the inspiration Ty. Your tattoo is incredible.

It really is a gorgeous tattoo, Ty! (And nothing like the look of a fresh one :)

I used to have a work friend who would call me at my desk and say "I have peonies on my desk" and every time she said it, I heard "I have panties on my desk" and I would scream and she'd laugh, it was our thing... ::))

Thanks for the lovely Mark Nepo quote - that one is a keeper. And I have fallen for peonies in a big way, so I really enjoyed this post. Peonies are exuberant and lush! Congrats on your ‘anniversary’! 🧡🏳️‍🌈

Such a beautiful tattoo but I'm a little scared from the look at your face when having the tattoo. 😱 I have been telling myself to get one. My old dream was a tiger at my lower leg outside, but I've always had the same as you not to get a tattoo... Now I start believing that I should have one!

I mean, he was repeatedly jamming needles into my leg so it wasn't exactly comfortable lol. However, I will say it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would and after he's done, the pain was very minimal (it also helped that I got the tattoo on one of the least painful places to get one on your body).

I would have given you comfort if I had been there, but now I'm at your side and looking forward to your writing!

Peonies are also great because you can divide the bulbs and make more peonies! I love your tattoo 💕
